| dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this study was to evaluate the current MIS of CMC (Gh.) Ltd, recommend ways of improving it and examine the prospects of integrating MIS in the corporate strategy of the company. The study design used was a combination of descriptive research design augmented by a gap analysis. In all fifteen members of the management, divisional and unit heads of the company as well as the head of MIS unit were selected based on the purposive sampling technique to participate in this study. The main research instrument used was the structured interview guide. The study revealed that management and middle management team of the company are not getting timely reports which negatively influence decision-making. In terms of consistency, the structure of data and relationships is not consistent across departments and although data is available, it takes a longer time to retrieve. The company also has not fully explored the benefits that MIS can provide in terms of corporate planning. It is recommended that management change the current data storage and retrieval system from separate files to a database system to reduce the data redundancy. | en_US |
