| dc.description.abstract | Apart from the Nigerian stock exchange and the BRVM of West African Monetary Union (WAMU), most national stock exchange buildings in Africa were not planned and design for securities and stocks trading. As a result installation of new technologies and other relevant infrastructure in these buildings has become almost impossible. The Ghana Stock Exchange is one such institution. It is housed in the Cedi House in Accra, facilities within which are becoming old and even obsolete in the face of new trends in the workplaces especially in the fast changing financial industry. This was made evident in the fire which destroyed the exchange's new refurbished trading floor. This design thesis seeks to explore current trends in the design of modern workplaces and office buildings and to produce a design that satisfies international standards in line with other stock exchanges elsewhere in the world while taking into consideration the surrounding environment and architecture in context. | en_US |
