Abstract
The language transfer is one of the major difficulties that confront teachers and learners
in the learning of French as a Foreign Language in Ghana. Although, the understanding
of the positive role error play tends to be accepted, some teachers continue to reject them
in the didactic field. It is a challenge the authorities must deal with in the area of
teaching and learning.
In this study, our attention is focused on errors analysis and the impact errors have on the
learning of French in some SHS in the Metropolis of Kumasi.
The study is based on questionnaires, a test and an observation conducted on the final
year learners. Our study reveals the learners’ difficulties when they commit errors, the
attitude of the teachers in dealing with these errors and their sources. This thesis ends
with useful pedagogical suggestions that can help to remedy these situations.
