dc.description.abstractThe general objective of the study was to assess the effect of supply chain flexibility and integration on the performance of motorcycle businesses in tamale metropolis. Based on this, two (2) specific objectives were established which were to evaluate the relationship between supply chain integration and performance of organizations at tamale metropolis and to ascertain the relationship between supply chain flexibility and performance of organizations at tamale metropolis. The study adopted a quantitative research design hence, a structured questionnaire was developed as a survey instrument. Data was from 105 respondents who were associated with the supply chain of motorcycle businesses in tamale metropolis. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential tools. This includes mean scores, standard deviation, pearson’s correlation, and ordinary least squares analysis. Based on the analysis, it was realized that, the implementation of supply chain integration is very low within the motorcycle supply chain in tamale. However, the results showed that, there is a significant relationship between supply chain integration and organizational performance. Consequently, it was clear that, they had a low level of operational and financial performance. The study also showed that, the motorcycle supply chain is less flexible. However, the results showed that, there is a significant relationship between supply chain flexibility and organizational performance. Consequently, it was clear that, they had a low level of operational and financial performance. Based on these findings, the study recommended that, due to the low integration of the supply of the motorcycle industry, it is important to implement strategies to improve supply chain integration effectiveness. For instance, purchasers must constantly deal with approved and accepted suppliers for the motorcycle parts. Also, the operators of motorcycles must establish a trust of safety among customers by following established regulations for their operations.
