dc.description.abstractThe study aims at assessing the effects of working capital management on cash holdings of Garden City University College (GCUC). The objective of this study is to ascertain how GCUC working capital management practices affect their cash holdings, which influence their operational expansion. The university’s six years financial information, 2008- 2013 was used for the analysis. Among the key findings included: 1) The University’s cash performance for both 2008 and 2012 years for the period under study was below expectation; compared to the acceptable benchmarks of percentiles (25th, 50th and 75th percentiles). 2) GCUC’s short-term liabilities within the balance sheet totals for 2008 to 2013 measure 1%, 3%, 9%, 7%, 6% 5% and respectively depicting an increased trend. This in turn, negatively related to have unsatisfactory on cash holdings level of the university. Researchers’ key recommendation is that GCUC must employ the technique of Economic Order Quantity and Just-In-Time as well as policy documentation about working capitalen_US
