Abstract: Minisetts from Dioscorea al ata' (water yam) and D. rotundata (white g uinea yam) were plamed in various media. There was 78-92% sprouting in topsoil, ric'e husk and saw­ dust , hut only a 69% in river sand . Sprouting was .73-92% in mixtures that included topsoil and rotten palm fibre or rice husk. D. alata had 88-96% sprouting , while D., rotundata had 73-76%.
