Abstract
There has always been an urgent need for a cost-estimating model that reflects the situation in Ghana. Thus, this thesis has actually achieved the main aim of developing a cost model that is capable of estimating the total cost of process plants in Ghana. This has been made possible through the use of linear programming with special reference to the simplex algorithm. Two models have been developed for solid and fluid processing plants respectively. Application of these models ensures that the total plant cost is always minimized with a probable error of ±8.25% for solid processing plant and ±10.18% for fluid processing plants.
