Abstract
technological advancement, particularly in artistic expression and digital media, spawns new Concepts and styles of an increasing rate. To cope with this artistic developmental trend, there is the need to incorporate techniques of other art disciplines within the major discipline. In view of this the researcher wants to break new grounds hitherto consider a taboo to unusual method of painting. In this regard chapter ne offers an introduction to the subject “Graphic Techniques in Painting”. This involves the background study of the traditional and contemporary materials, media and techniques. The problem, objective and justification are also well spelt out. The hypothesis, delimitation, importance and research methodology are stated. Chapter two ushers in the historical and related literature review. In the review, the researcher attempts to trace the historical development of multimedia - printmaking processes as well as other means usually employed by graphic designers. Works of other artist related to the study are reviewed. Chapter three deals with the materials, equipment and the practical procedures in painting. These are interrelated with photography, screen-printing and special marbling techniques. Experimental survey displays works in this chapter. Chapter four comprises of a small collection of the project works in requirement of the problem statement. The project paintings are analysed regarding the fusion of painting with graphic techniques.
