Abstract
The main objective of the study is to investigate the impact of material management practices on supply chain performance of healthcare facilities in Ghana. The study employed explanatory research design. This survey was conducted using a quantitative approach. Purposive sampling was used to choose 100 participants. A prepared questionnaire was the main tool used for data collection. SPSS v26 was used for the statistical analysis. Both descriptive and inferential approaches were used to analyse the data. The results showed that healthcare facilities adopt material management practices by order transmission and serving. The results showed that material management practices had a significant impact on SC performance. The also showed that barriers accounted when adopting material management practices are lack of executive support for SCM efforts, conflicting goals regarding inventory choices in the supply chain, conflicting goals regarding inventory choices within their institution, physician preference for high-cost items, limited information sharing, constantly changing technology of products, and lack of standardized nomenclatures in barcodes. The study concluded that managers should adopt material management practices by ordering transmission and serving to reduce costs, exchange of information, and enhanced level of quality
