Abstract
The main of objective of this study was to examine the impact of inventory management practices on the performance of public hospitals in the Bono Region of Ghana. The study evaluated the effect of strategic supplier partnership, information communication technology and ABC techniques of inventory management practices. The study employed census strategy because the public hospitals were few in the Region. The study use descriptive design type and data was collected from each of the 5 public hospitals in the Bono region of Ghana. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 5 management members from each of the 5 public hospitals to make a sample size of 50 respondents. The findings of the study revealed that there was a positive significant effect on strategic supplier partnerships, information communication technology and ABC techniques of inventory management practices and public hospitals performance. But among these inventory management practices, the one that has high impact on performance of the public hospitals in the Bono Region of Ghana was the application of information communication technology. The application of information communication technology explained about 62% of the variations between inventory management and the performance of the public hospitals. One of the key limitations was the tight schedule of the managers of the public hospitals to devote much time for the data collection exercise.
