Title: The effect of organizational culture on performance at Provident Insurance Company Limited.

Abstract: In Ghana, organisational culture is one of the important issues in the field of organisational behaviour. It affects employee performance and productivity in the organization. This study, therefore, sought to investigate the effect of organizational culture on performance using the Provident Insurance Company Limited as a case study. The research specifically identified the dimensions of Organisational Culture (involvement, consistency, adaptability, and mission), the relative effects of organizational culture dimensions on performance at Provident Insurance Company Limited (PICL), and identified the challenges associated with the implementation of Organisational Culture at PICL. The study utilized the mixed method to establish how respondents perceive the effect of Organisational Culture on the Organisation. Participants for the study were 100. Questionnaires and interview guide were administered personally to gather diverse views from participants both management and staff. The findings of research revealed that PICL was practicing all the four cultural dimensions (Involvement, Consistency, Adaptability and Mission). It was also made evident by the study that all the Organisational Culture dimensions had effect on organisational performance. The study identified top management, motivation, communication, inadequate training and education supervisory support, and HR expertise as challenges associated with the implementation of Organisational Culture. The study however recommended that Top management must put in place a good package which enhance employees to be involved in organisational culture, and also, any change or new culture must be well communicated in the various departments of the organisation. Seminars and other education forum were also recommended to be organised to educate employees on the need for change or cultural value.
